Title: Parenting through Proverbs

Preacher: Rev. Greg Brower

This Sunday, we start a new sermon series on parenting called: Parenting Through Proverbs. 1 Timothy 6:10 ~ Twisted: Root of Evil

Text: 1 Timothy 6:10

Title: Twisted: Root of Evil

Preacher: Rev. Greg Brower

The Bible is full of wisdom. People love to quote their favorite verses to encourage and inspire each other—but sometimes, those verses get taken out of context. What happens when the most important message of all gets Twisted? In the final week of this short series we look at 1 Timothy 6:10. Not only taken out of context, but also often misquoted to say money is the root of all evil, our passage this week invites us to think carefully about how we relate to money.

The Bible is full of wisdom. People love to quote their favorite verses to encourage and inspire each other—but sometimes, those verses get taken out of context. What happens when the most important message of all gets Twisted? In the third week of this short series we look at Jeremiah 29:11. We see it on graduation cards, and on trinkets. But, what if it doesn’t mean exactly what we think it means? And, what if the actually meaning is something better?

Preacher: Rev. Greg Brower

As we ordain and install our new Elders and Deacons today and remember the first Pentecost, we gather in worship seeking the same outpouring of God’s Spirit in our own lives. We have seen the power of God’s Spirit to bring life to the spiritually dead, to bring reconciliation across cultural boundaries, and replace our idolatry with a deep love for the one true God. May we hear the call of Peter to repent and believe in the living Jesus this Pentecost.

This week, we look to the life of Barnabas to consider how we can multiply our lives by investing in others. This Sunday, we ask: Are you a Barney?
