Youth Group Year End Party

This Sunday we will be doing a middle school/high school youth group year end party at Craig’s Cruisers (Grand Rapids), meeting at church at 12 pm and returning around 3:30-3:45 pm.

Each participant (youth and youth leaders) will need to fill out an online waiver before going.
Please do that right away and forward me your confirmation email. I can then print out the confirmation and save us time checking in when we arrive through scanning the barcode on the waiver.

Cost will be $20 for youth. The church budget will cover the remaining cost. Please pay a youth leader when you arrive. You may also choose to use account money if you have any left or you could Venmo me and I’ll pull the cash from my bank account to pay church later.
Venmo: @Jeremy-Zoet

We will have access to the 3 hour food and fun wristbands which include all attractions, jump time, and the 3 hour buffet (so come hungry!). If your child would like to do arcade stuff, they will need to bring their own additional money and take care of that themselves.

Youth Group Kick-Off Party
Our youth group kick-off party is Sunday, September 19 from 1 – 4:30 PM. We are doing a photo scavenger hunt that will run both middle and high school at the same time, but high school youth will only compete against high school youth and middle school youth against middle school youth.

Students will need to arrive on time because we will be splitting into groups and then departing in leader vehicles. It will not work to try to jump into the photo scavenger hunt during the middle of the time. This puts a team at a disadvantage if they are meeting up with someone at a specific location or having to wait for someone.

Meal not included, snack is included.
There will be cash prizes for the winning team(s).

Please Fill out a Release Form online before attending this party.

Release Form
Every student attending youth group needs to fill out an Online Release Form. Be prepared to have your child’s medical information, email address and cell phone number (if they have one).
If inviting a friend, please send them this email/link so that we have their information. It can also be found at any time on our website. Simply go to the “Ministries” tab, choose “Youth.” There is a link for it on the permanent grey bar on the right.

Youth Group Kick-Off

Here is a link for filling out an online release/registration form (new this year!). You will need insurance and doctor/medical info. If your child is bringing a friend, please forward this email to their parents and have them fill out the online release/registration form. Also, please let me know if they are thinking of bringing a friend.

September 27 we will be kicking off youth group for the year!
We will meet during our normal youth group time of 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm for High School and 5:45 pm – 7:15 pm at church.
We will be playing some games to get to know one another, as well as having a “Paint War.” For the paint war, we will be splitting into different teams and playing something similar to a capture the flag game, except instead of tagging others, we will throw watered down washable tempera paint from small cups onto each other.

Youth will need to wear clothes that they are okay with getting paint on (with a chance of it not washing out) and will need to bring an old towel or 2 (that could also get pain on it), as well as a clean change of clothes (OR you could pick them up with their paint clothes still on them, but you’ll want something on your car seat to keep the paint from getting on your car). Youth will not be allowed to go inside church to change clothes. We will set up portable changing tents for youth to change clothes. They will also not be allowed to go inside for any reason once they have paint on themselves.

Also please bring a mask just in case we need them at some point.

Youth will also need a mask for regular youth group meetings, which will start the following Sunday, October 4 from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm for High School (9th -12th grade) and 5:45 pm – 7:15 pm for Middle School (6th-8th grade).

If we have bad weather on the day of the kick-off, we will still meet for youth group inside church. We will reschedule the paint war for the following week if possible.

About Zion Youth Group

Zion Reformed Youth Ministries is a place to discover God and connect with others.  In our youth group meetings, music, videos, experiential learning, teaching, and small group conversations are often used in lessons to understand who God is and how we can respond to Him in our lives.

We also play some pretty epic games:

Plunger Hockey, 9 Square in the Air, Ga Ga, Crab Soccer with a 3 Ft beach ball, Slap Dodgeball, Youth Room Volleyball, Chair Volleyball, and more.

Retreats

Each year both youth groups go on at least one weekend retreat during the school year.

Mission Trips

Each summer we go on week long mission trips to different locations to serve others.  Trip are available for both middle and high school students.

Fundraising

How Fundraising Works:

Each student has the ability to raise money for their own student account.  The profit a student makes on their fundraiser is deposited into their student account.  Students may use money from their account to pay for mission trip, retreats, and outings.
